Visora releases 2026 cross-border GEO benchmark across eight verticals

Visora published its 2026 cross-border GEO benchmark on February 5, analyzing 12,000 storefront URLs across apparel, electronics, beauty, home, sports, toys, jewelry, and automotive verticals in EN, DE, JA, and KO locales. The report separates classic SEO technical scores from citation-ready readiness—a distinction that explains why many merchants rank on Google but rarely appear in AI answers.

Headline stats

  • Median GEO score: 41/100 (vs median SEO technical score 58/100 on the same sample)
  • Only 23% pass FAQ completeness threshold (five or more Q&A on hero PDP)
  • hreflang error rate: 37% among multi-locale Shopify Plus stores
  • Schema depth gap: apparel and electronics median 12 points below home and garden

Top decile patterns

Leaders combine weekly price sync, HowTo content for sizing and setup, and localized FAQ—not translation alone. They also maintain consistent return and shipping facts across locales, reducing feed–page mismatches that exclude AI shopping cards.

Vertical notes

  • Beauty: ingredient and allergy FAQs drive citation share for comparison prompts
  • Electronics: compatibility matrices outperform long marketing paragraphs
  • Automotive: fitment tables must be HTML-visible; PDF-only spec sheets underperform

Cross-border takeaway

Operating five languages without five sets of buyer questions is the most common failure mode in the benchmark. hreflang correctness is necessary but insufficient.

Visora angle

Full benchmark PDF is available to Growth and Pro subscribers; every free audit includes teaser metrics against vertical medians. Use the benchmark to set internal OKRs: FAQ completeness, schema validation, and localized prompt coverage before H2 campaign spend.
