Google Merchant Center adds AI-oriented product attributes in feed specs
Google updated Merchant Center feed documentation in November 2025 with optional AI-oriented supplemental attributes—use case summaries, compatibility notes, and sustainability facts intended to improve generative shopping answers and in-feed enrichment. The fields are advisory today but early partner tests tie them to Gemini card eligibility in select categories.
New supplemental themes
- Primary use case (short plain-language sentence per SKU)
- Compatibility highlights (devices, sizes, regions supported)
- Sustainability or materials facts where relevant to buyer questions
- Link to canonical FAQ URL on merchant domain
Alignment requirements
Google emphasizes parity: supplemental feed text must match visible PDP content and JSON-LD. Mismatches trigger disapproval or exclusion from AI-enhanced placements in pilot programs.
Category rollout
Electronics, home improvement, and apparel pilots appeared first in US and DE Merchant Center accounts with historical feed health above median.
Visora angle
Visora audit cross-checks new supplemental fields against PDP HTML and schema. Export a Merchant Center alignment pack after audit to update feeds without guessing which AI attributes are empty on hero SKUs.
