Google expands Gemini shopping actions to 12 new markets

Google confirmed a phased rollout of Gemini-powered shopping actions across APAC and LATAM markets in late February 2026, linking in-conversation product cards to Merchant Center product feeds. Merchant documentation and early partner tests make one requirement clear: structured data quality is now a gating factor—not a nice-to-have—for surfacing in AI shopping surfaces.

Observed merchant requirements

  • Valid Product schema on landing URLs with IDs matching feed entries
  • Price and availability sync with less than 24-hour drift tolerance
  • Return policy, shipping labels, and condition fields exposed in structured form
  • Landing URL consistency between ads, organic listings, and feed links

Rollout timeline

  • Phase 1 (Feb 2026): AU, SG, MX, BR merchant cohorts with existing Shopping ads history
  • Phase 2 (Mar–Apr 2026): broader APAC and LATAM eligibility with feed health thresholds
  • Excluded in early tests: merchants with repeated feed–page mismatches or policy warnings

Impact on cross-border operators

Brands selling from a single US feed into multiple countries must localize currency, shipping, and return rules on destination PDPs—not only in Merchant Center labels. Analyst notes from agency partners report 18–25% of otherwise eligible SKUs failed card surfacing due to schema gaps on localized URLs.

Visora angle

Visora's audit now flags Merchant Center alignment issues on Shopify and WooCommerce stacks: feed ID mismatches, missing availability in JSON-LD, and return policy fields absent from structured markup. Run alignment checks before expanding Gemini markets to avoid silent exclusion from in-chat cards.
